Des Plaines, IL - PCB Matrix, a Valor company announced support for FMF VHDL and Verilog models as a data source for automatic schematic symbol creation.
In their July 2009 newletter, PCB Matrix says:
"One of the biggest problems in systems design is the integration of Verilog HDL and VHDL models to PCB Engineering Design Tools. The PCB Matrix Symbol Wizard provides an intelligent mapping to quickly connect the Verilog HDL or VHDL models to the Schematic Symbols and Land Pattern (Footprint) models.
Naming conventions used in the Verilog HDL or VHDL models are correlated and mapped, eliminating the errors and inconsistencies inherent in a traditional manual modeling approach. Verilog HDL and VHDL models from component vendors, third party, or open source models such as the Free Model Foundry, can be utilized in a consistent manner throughout the Engineering and PCB Design Flows."
The use of our models by a third party, in a manner we did not envision, provides another example of the benefits of open source models.
